Artist's Comments

In 2006, I started a homebased jewelry business called Cyborg Butterfly. This is my first contest piece, submitted to the Fire Mountain Gems and Beads yearly contest. I won second place in the necklace division, and it was featured in their back page advertisement in the spring 2008 Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine. You can view a scan of the ad on my website.

It is crafted of sterling silver wire and amethyst, citrine and peridot beads. It took about twelve hours to complete.

Thank you so much! If you are interested in learning, that magazine I mentioned is an excellent resource for beginners. It has helped me a lot.

Thank you so much! I looked at your website and I think your work is pretty too. I have been thinking about working in polyclay, but I haven't had the time.

Thank you! I use copper for all my prototypes because it's cheap and very easy to use. The best thing to do is get yourself some copper wire and jewelry pliers and just play around until you feel comfortable. That's what I did. When I had the copper down, I started working in sterling silver. It's a little harder, but very satisfying in terms of the finished piece.
